FAO – Crop Prospects and Food Situation, Jul 2025

The main theme of the report is crop prospects and the global food situation for 2025.

Key findings include an assessment that 41 countries require external food assistance, including 31 countries in Africa, 8 in Asia, 1 in Latin America and the Caribbean, and 1 in Europe. Conflicts and civil instability remain major drivers of acute food insecurity. Cereal production forecasts vary by region: in Africa, cereal production is expected to recover in Southern Africa but remain below average in Northern Africa. In Asia, record wheat production is expected in Far East Asia, but cereal production is below average in Near East Asia. In Latin America and the Caribbean, high maize production is expected in South America, but a decline is anticipated in Central America and the Caribbean.
