KAPSARC – Convergence and Divergence in Global Agriculture, Forest, and Land-Use Emission Estimates

This report reviews and compares two key global datasets used to track greenhouse gas emissions and removals from the Agriculture, Forestry, and Other Land Use (AFOLU) sector.

It highlights important differences between the FAOSTAT and NGHGI datasets, especially regarding Land Use, Land Use Change, and Forestry (LULUCF) data. The report emphasizes the need for accurate and robust data to monitor progress in mitigating climate change in the AFOLU sector, which accounts for about 25% of global net anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions.
