Palm oil consumption in Kenya is expected to reach a record level in 2025, with projected imports of 1.0 million tons. In 2024, Kenya was the eighth largest importer of palm oil in the world. The share of refined palm oil imports in Kenya increased to 24% in 2024 due to higher tariffs on crude palm oil. Malaysia became the main supplier of palm oil to Kenya, increasing its market share to nearly 90% in 2024. Global sunflower production is expected to reach 56.3 million tons in 2025/26, which will be almost a record level.
