Canada Armed Forces – Artificial Intelligence Strategy, Mar 2024

The Canada Armed Forces recognize the significant impact that artificial intelligence (AI) is having on both civilian life and the defence environment. As AI continues to rapidly transform daily activities, it is essential for the Defence Team to adapt and integrate AI technologies to meet their obligations of protecting and defending Canada and Canadians. The DND/CAF Artificial Intelligence Strategy aims to make the Defence Team AI-enabled by 2030, in alignment with broader digital transformation goals. By embracing AI, the Forces can enhance their operational capabilities, stay relevant in an evolving technological landscape, and meet the expectations of both personnel and the public. The Strategy also emphasizes the importance of maintaining ethical standards and inclusivity in the implementation of AI technologies in order to uphold the trust and confidence of Canadians. In the face of increasing global threats, the urgency to modernize and incorporate AI into military operations is clear, and the Defence Team is prepared to meet this challenge head-on.
