McKinsey – State of AI, 2024

In 2024, organizations have significantly embraced the use of generative AI (gen AI) and are deriving business value from this new technology. According to the latest McKinsey Global Survey on AI, 65 percent of respondents are regularly using gen AI, which is nearly double the percentage from the previous survey. The expectations for gen AI's impact remain high, with three-quarters of respondents predicting significant or disruptive change in their industries in the future. Business units deploying gen AI are experiencing cost decreases and revenue jumps. However, risks such as inaccuracy are a concern, and top performers are implementing practices to mitigate challenges and capture value. The survey also shows a surge in AI adoption, with 72 percent of organizations adopting AI capabilities, up from 50 percent in previous years. This increase in adoption is seen across industries globally, with professional services showing the biggest jump.
