WI – The State of AI at Work, 2024

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence has reached a tipping point with over half of knowledge workers using AI weekly. A study by Asana’s Work Innovation Lab and Anthropic surveyed 5,007 workers, revealing that most organizations are unprepared for AI integration. While daily AI users report significant productivity gains, many workers lack AI literacy. Only 31% of companies have a formal AI strategy, and there are divides in AI enthusiasm between executives and employees. Workers are taking AI learning into their own hands, emphasizing the need for formal education and training. Companies should invest in AI systems that work collaboratively with humans, establish AI guidelines, collect employee feedback, and embrace the "5 Cs" of AI adoption. Without decisive action and a clear roadmap, AI ambitions may fail. The time to harness this tipping point with a bold strategy is now to avoid chaos and unfulfilled potential.
