In August 2025, trading volumes on centralized exchanges reached a new yearly high, increasing by 7.58% to $9.72 trillion. Spot trading volumes rose by 6.55% to $2.36 trillion, the highest since January. Derivatives trading volumes increased by 7.92% from July, reaching $7.36 trillion, also marking a new yearly high for this segment. The increase in trading activity coincided with significant volatility in cryptocurrency markets.
