EIA – Natural Gas Annual, 2022

The Natural Gas Annual 2022 (NGA) is a report that provides information on the supply and use of natural gas in the United States. The report is aimed at various audiences, including Congress, government agencies, industry analysts, consumers, and educational institutions. The data in the report covers the year 2022 and includes information on the production, supply, and use of natural gas. The report presents the data in tables, starting with an overview of the natural gas supply chain, from production to end use. This is followed by state-specific tables summarizing the supply and use of natural gas from 2018 to 2022. Historical data at the national level is also included. The data for the report is collected through surveys conducted by the Energy Information Administration (EIA). The EIA collects information from various sources, including responses to mandatory reporting forms, data from state and federal agencies, and commercial vendors. Surveys on natural gas liquids, underground gas storage, natural gas purchases and deliveries, power plant operations, natural gas prices, and natural gas imports and exports are used to gather the necessary data for the report. The EIA has made revisions to the data series for the previous two years and has also made revisions to production volumes and other data based on the Form EIA-176. These revisions are part of the EIA's ongoing efforts to improve data quality. The report uses standard units of measurement, with volumes reported in million cubic feet at 60°F and 14.73 pounds per square inch absolute. Appendix A provides more detailed information on the data sources and methodology used in the report.
