Global gas consumption growth for 2025 has been revised down to 1.6%, with reductions seen in the industrial sector.
While EU and US gas consumption declined in August, China's demand increased, but is expected to be constrained by industrial weakness. On the production side, global gas production is projected to grow by 1.8% in 2025, led by North America. LNG imports surged to a record high in August 2025, driven by Asia Pacific’s demand. Gas storage levels in Northern Hemisphere countries increased, with replenishment efforts ongoing. Energy prices weakened across European and Asian markets in August 2025. Despite the declines, spot prices are expected to face upward pressure in anticipation of the upcoming winter season.
