GWEC – Global Wind Report, 2024

The Global Wind Energy Council's Global Wind Report for 2024 reveals that the global wind industry reached a milestone in 2023, with a record 117GW of new capacity installed. This remarkable growth is attributed to increased political ambition, shown by the adoption of a target to triple renewable energy by 2030 at COP28. The report indicates that the wind industry is poised for accelerated growth, with total installations up 50% from the previous year. In 2023, 54 countries across all continents added new wind power capacity, showcasing the global momentum behind wind energy expansion. Additionally, GWEC has raised its growth forecast for 2024-2030 by 10%, now predicting 1210GW of installations, due to national industrial policies in major economies, progress in offshore wind, and growth potential in emerging markets and developing economies.
