The report focuses on the costs of subsidies for carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies in the UK.
Key findings include the risky strategy of relying on this unproven and expensive technology despite reduced targets in the UK's latest Carbon Budget. It is estimated that around £408 billion will be required for the installation and operation of CCS infrastructure in the UK by 2050. Over £50 billion in subsidies has been allocated to support projects that collectively account for only 8% of the total.
