IRENA – Renewable energy and jobs. Annual Review, 2024

The IRENA Renewable energy and jobs series explores the impact of renewable energy development on employment, economic value, and human well-being. It quantifies current employment in the renewable energy sector globally and in specific countries, considering various policy contexts. The series emphasizes the importance of creating decent jobs for a just and inclusive energy transition. Building on previous work, IRENA launched this annual review to provide regular assessments of renewable energy employment, including data on energy access, gender equity, and the requirements of a fair transition. The review is part of IRENA's broader analysis of the socio-economic impacts of transitioning to renewable energy, including job creation, domestic capacity building, women's participation, education and training needs, and modelling the impact on GDP and human welfare up to 2050.
