This report presents a techno-economic assessment of low-temperature solid-sorbent direct air capture (DAC) systems tailored to Saudi Arabia’s energy and industrial context.
DAC is expected to be crucial in Saudi Arabia’s net-zero strategy, especially for offsetting emissions from hard-to-abate sectors. The study evaluates combinations of three electricity sources with four heat sources, finding that heat source choice is the dominant cost driver. Industrial waste heat offers the lowest costs, highlighting the advantage of co-location with industrial clusters.
