The Sensor Tower Store Mobile App Insights platform compiled download and consumer spend estimates for the period of January 1, 2024, to March 31, 2024. The report presents figures for both the App Store and Google Play, with download estimates based on a per-user basis. The consumer spend estimates include the gross amount, inclusive of any percentage taken by the app stores. In Q1 2024, global consumer spend across iOS and Google Play exceeded $35 billion, marking a 9.5% year-over-year increase. Mobile game spend broke the $20 billion barrier for the first time in two years, showing nearly 3% year-over-year growth. Non-game consumer spend also saw significant growth, reaching $15.5 billion, up 19.4% year-over-year. Comparing iOS and Google Play, iOS had more than double the consumer spend growth of Google Play. While mobile gaming spend has fully returned on iOS, Google Play's consumer spend remained relatively flat compared to the previous year.
