Future of Payments Report, 2023

The Call for Input is soliciting opinions from various stakeholders to contribute to the Future of Payments Review. This review, led by Joe Garner, was launched in July 2023 with the goal of examining how payments will be made in the future and determining the necessary steps to establish world-leading retail payments in the UK. The review focuses on consumer needs, encompassing both individuals and businesses involved in retail payments, and aims to provide recommendations for the government, financial services regulators, and industry players. The review seeks to answer three specific questions: 1) What are the most important retail payment journeys for consumers today and in the next five years? 2) How does the consumer experience in the UK compare to other leading countries for these journeys in terms of quality, security, and cost? 3) How likely are the current plans and initiatives in the payments landscape to deliver world-leading payment experiences for UK consumers? Stakeholders are encouraged to respond to these questions, indicating whether they are providing input as an individual or on behalf of an organization and specifying their role within the organization.
