Chemical industry in Kazakhstan

Chemical industry plays a significant role in the global economy, constituting over 8% of the world industry and providing approximately 7% of the global GDP. Predictably, the demand for chemical products will witness sustainable growth in both the medium and long run, with special and petrochemical sectors experiencing the highest growth rate. Countries, which have access to resources and valuable domestic demand, will enjoy an advantage in enhancing their production. Basic chemicals' production constitutes the most widespread segment of chemical production, accounting for 33% or around $1.2 trillion globally. In Kazakhstan, basic chemicals' production forms 59% of the overall production, equating to approximately 277 billion tenge. In the near future, Kazakhstan is anticipated to experience the highest growth rates in the petrochemical sector, owing to putting additional facilities into action for polymer production.
