Summary
In the Ipsos Global Happiness Report for 2024, it was found that on average across 30 countries, 71% of people say they are happy.
The highest levels of happiness were reported in the Netherlands at 85%, while the lowest were in Hungary and South Korea at 48%. In terms of financial satisfaction, 54% of respondents are satisfied, with the lowest levels in Japan at 36% and Hungary at 37%. When it comes to satisfaction with children, only 3% of parents say they are satisfied, with Gen Z parents being the least satisfied at 64%. Satisfaction with friends is high at 84%, with Baby Boomers being the most satisfied at 82% compared to Millennials at 74%. In terms of job satisfaction, 76% of respondents are satisfied, with higher-income households reporting higher levels of satisfaction at 79% compared to lower-income households at 63%. Despite a rebound, happiness levels are still below historic highs, and 73% of people are not satisfied with the social and political situation in their country.
