Dealroom – The State of VC in Italy, Sep 2024

The Italian VC landscape has seen a shift towards deep tech segments such as SaaS and Manufacturing, moving away from eCommerce. Turin has emerged as the main hub for Manufacturing startups in Italy. University spinouts in Italy have grown significantly in value over the past five years, but the country still lags behind in creating value from these startups compared to other countries like France and Sweden. Italy ranks 8th in European Deep Tech VC in recent years, showing progress towards reaching its potential as Europe's 4th largest economy. The comparison of spinouts and policies across different countries remains challenging, but efforts are being made to improve data sharing for a fair comparison.
