KPMG – M&A Outlook Private Equity, 2024

According to KPMG's 2024 M&A Outlook survey, private equity executives are optimistic about an increase in deal activity this year. Carole Streicher, head of Deal Advisory and Strategy at KPMG LLP, believes that 2024 will see a return to dealmaking, supported by the survey results. The survey indicates that the revival of PE deal activity is expected to gain momentum in the second half of the year, as interest rates are projected to decrease. Private equity firms are shown to be more sensitive to interest rates than corporates, and KPMG economists predict a decrease in rates starting in the spring. This optimism and expectation of increased deal activity is reflected in the outlook for the private equity sector in 2024.
