Deloitte - Future of News 2022

The Deloitte Impact Foundation conducted a study to investigate potential initiatives that would have a positive impact on the future of news. The study takes a holistic view of the value of news, which is split into two parts: the forum function and the control function. The forum function deals with the ability of news consumers to access a variety of news sources and form well-informed opinions, while the control function focuses on the ability of journalists to report on government and company policy and decision-making. To measure the extent to which news is performing these functions, six indicators were distilled: inclusivity, pluralism, accessibility, quality, independence, and transparency. The study aimed to understand the current state and future expectations of the news industry, with the goal of identifying potential initiatives that would have a positive impact on the future of news.
