Summary
The space industry is at a pivotal point, with governments and private companies launching ambitious space strategies while other industries are looking to space to transform their businesses. KPMG Australia believes that the future of space will be communal, commercial, and contested, generating both opportunity and risk for all players. Estimates suggest the global space industry could be worth US$600bn by 2030, with the fastest area of growth predicted to be second-order impacts, such as congestion planning and debris clean-up. To understand what the presence in space may look like in 2030, KPMG spoke with 30 industry leaders who predicted significant change in areas including living, working, and holidaying in space, deep space exploration, space business models, space data, and sustainability. The potential of space to open up new businesses and customers is huge, and organizations that lack adaptability and imagination may be left behind.
