The app economy, which is just over 15 years old, is expected to generate $2.2 trillion in revenue between 2021 and 2030. In-app spending is projected to grow by 267% compared to the previous decade, with $288 billion expected to be spent in 2030 alone. Additionally, consumers are predicted to download nearly 2.9 trillion new apps and games over the next decade, up 123% from the previous 10 years. The forecast also anticipates that mobile device usage will increase, with consumers spending over 58 trillion hours on mobile devices over the next decade. The report highlights the resilience of the app economy, which bounced back from a slight decline in direct spend last year due to various factors, including global inflation, shrinking disposable income, privacy changes, and a pandemic market correction. The forecasted revenue of $2.2 trillion does not include earnings from in-app advertising, which reached $362 billion in 2023 alone.
