IDC β Global Digitalization Index, 2024
Summary
The world is rapidly progressing towards an intelligent society driven by digital technologies such as AI, 5G, and green energy.
The digital economy is growing at a faster rate than the traditional economy, with 70% of global economic growth expected to be driven by digitalization and intelligence in the next five years. Many countries have developed national strategies for digital and intelligent transformation, but are facing challenges in measuring ROI, planning ICT development, and evaluating the readiness of their ICT industry ecosystem. Huawei has addressed these challenges by creating the Global Connectivity Index (GCI) in 2014 to assess countries' connectivity infrastructure. Now, they have upgraded the GCI to the Global Digitalization Index (GDI) to measure the impact of digital transformation on the digital economy. The GDI evaluates the maturity of a country's ICT industry by considering indicators such as computing, storage, cloud, and green energy.
