IATA – Air Cargo Market Analysis, April 2024

In April 2024, the global air cargo market saw significant growth, with Cargo Tonne-Kilometers (CTKs) expanding by 11.1% Year-on-Year. Global international traffic also rose by 11.6% compared to the previous year, driven by airlines in Asia Pacific and Europe. Available Cargo Tonne-Kilometers (ACTKs) increased by 7.1% annually, with capacity growth slowing down due to returning passenger aircraft. Despite a 6.5% reduction in CTKs Month-on-Month, airlines recorded a strong 11.1% increase YoY globally. This marked the fifth consecutive month of double-digit annual growth, with carriers from Asia Pacific and Europe contributing the most to this performance. In contrast to previous months, where growth came mainly from airlines in Asia Pacific and the Middle East, carriers in Asia Pacific and Europe dominated in April.
