IATA – Air Passenger Market Analysis, April 2024

In April 2024, the global air passenger market experienced significant growth, with an 11.0% increase in Revenue Passenger-Kilometers (RPK) compared to the previous year. The growth was driven by a strong international traffic performance, with passenger load factors (PLF) reaching 82.4%. Domestic traffic also increased by 4.0% Year-on-Year, with Australia showing the fastest rise at 6.9% YoY. International traffic saw even higher growth at 15.8%, with Asia Pacific leading the way. Demand for air travel remained high, surpassing pre-Covid levels, with ticket sales peaking in late April and early May. Despite a slight slowdown in growth compared to previous months, the industry continues to experience double-digit growth for the 36th consecutive month. Overall, the industry is on a positive trajectory, with PLF values exceeding those of the past two years and the supply of available seats closely tracking the expansion of passenger traffic.
