IATA – Air Passenger Market Analysis, Jul 2024

In July 2024, the air passenger industry saw a strong growth in total Revenue Passenger-Kilometers (RPK) and Available Seat-Kilometers (ASK), with a peak passenger load factor (PLF) of 86%. Domestic traffic increased by 4.8% YoY, led by Brazil, while international traffic marked a 10.1% YoY growth, nearing conventional figures. The industry maintained a stable growth rate, with healthy RPK growth and a 7.4% increase in ASK. Despite the CrowdStrike IT outage, the industry showed no noticeable negative impact. Asia Pacific airlines continued to lead in traffic growth, with international passenger traffic increasing by 10.1% YoY. All regions experienced robust growth, with Asia Pacific leading at 19.1% YoY. Overall, the demand for international travel remained strong, with RPK volumes reaching all-time highs for most regions, indicating promising future prospects.
