Roland Berger β EV Charging Index, 2024
Summary
In 2023, there was a slowdown in EV sales growth due to various challenges faced by the sector such as high electricity costs, inflation, and reduced subsidies.
However, the Roland Berger EV Charging Index predicts that EV growth rates will recover soon. The fifth edition of the index covers 32 markets globally and 31 indicators, with findings based on industry interviews, research, and a survey of 16,000 participants. The index assesses a country's readiness for EV charging facilities, measuring network sufficiency and customer satisfaction. In 2023, vehicle-to-charger ratios improved thanks to growth in certain regions, with over 80% of respondents believing that public charging has become easier. OEMs are increasingly involved in charging infrastructure, either through their own networks or collaborations, and the market is dynamic with new companies entering the industry in both mature and developing regions.
