Royal Aeronautical Society – Air Travel: Greener by Design

The past year has seen a noticeable development of various propulsion options for different market segments in the aviation industry. However, these options are expected to evolve as technology and experience continue to advance. Currently, smaller sub-regional aircraft with 9 seats or less are favoring battery-electric applications. In order for larger aircraft to operate on longer-range flights, significant improvements in battery technology are necessary. Regional and short-haul flights are also being targeted for greener design initiatives in the aviation industry.
