WEF & Capgemini β Global Digital Jobs, 2024
Summary
Global digital jobs offer a solution to the skills and labor shortages faced by countries and employers.
This paper builds on previous research, identifying 92 million potential global digital jobs by 2030. Lower-middle-income countries have a surplus of skilled workers, which could help fill labor shortages in higher-income countries. Barriers to establishing a global digital workforce include technological infrastructure, policies and perceptions, and workforce skills. Risks include technology malfunctions, work conditions, and performance management. The framework provided in this paper addresses these barriers and risks and has been tested through case studies. By embracing global digital jobs, companies and countries can enhance talent availability and stimulate economic development. It is crucial for leaders to prioritize access to technology and targeted skills development for global prosperity.
