The global population is expected to increase by one billion people by 2025, with 300 million of them aged 65 or older. This demographic shift, coupled with the rise in healthcare demand from ageing populations in both developed and emerging nations, presents a significant challenge in providing care for the elderly. Despite a decline in global healthcare spending in 2020, it is projected to recover and increase by 5% annually until 2023. The use of health and fitness apps has also seen a significant rise, with a 34% increase in downloads in the first half of 2020 compared to the previous year. The telemedicine industry, which was already expected to grow at 15% annually by 2025, is now forecasted to grow by 19.3% and reach a market value of $175.5 billion. However, the suspension of routine vaccination activities in response to COVID-19 could lead to a potential increase in child deaths from preventable diseases.
