In Q2 2024, startups globally raised $88B in venture capital, marking a 6% increase quarter on quarter and a 16% increase year on year.
This growth in VC investment for two consecutive quarters is the first since 2021. The venture industry is more active than any time pre-2021, with over 12.5K venture rounds of $2M+ raised in 2024. Early-stage VC up to Series A totaled $15B in Q2, while late-stage investment reached its highest rate since Q1 2022. Breakout-stage VC in Q2 was also higher than in the three previous quarters. Global venture capital investment in 2024 is tracking ahead of 2023, just behind the outlier years of 2021 and 2022.
