Capgemini – Networks with intelligence

Capgemini's research on autonomous networks in the telecom industry found that most telcos are aiming to achieve Level 3 autonomy or above by 2028, with 61% aspiring to reach Level 3. However, only 1% expect to reach Level 5 autonomy. Challenges such as employee mindset, integration issues, and data sovereignty are hindering progress, with only 17% having a comprehensive transformation strategy. Telcos that are further along in their autonomous networks journey have seen significant benefits, including a 20% improvement in operational efficiency and 18% network OpEx savings. Additionally, 71% have reduced energy consumption, with an average 32% reduction in emissions expected in the next five years. Overall, the financial benefits of autonomous networks are anticipated to outweigh the investment required.
