IRENA – Global Atlas decade in the making, 2024

In 2012, IRENA partnered with the Clean Energy Ministerial Multilateral working group to create the Global Atlas for Renewable Energy platform. It is a free online resource where users such as policymakers, energy planners, project developers, researchers, modellers, and educators can access data and tools to evaluate the renewable energy potential of a country or region, particularly where this information is not readily available. The platform currently offers over 1,000 renewable resource datasets from 50 international technical institutes and private companies. These datasets are intended to increase awareness of renewable energy options, support global climate goals, decarbonize the energy system, and promote access to sustainable energy for all. This brochure showcases the Global Atlas platform, highlighting some of its published datasets and tools available for free online.
