DHL – Global Connectedness Report, 2024

The DHL Global Connectedness Report for 2024 shows that global connectedness remained high in 2022 and 2023 despite recent crises, disproving the idea that globalization is in decline. Singapore is the most globally connected country, followed by the Netherlands and Ireland. U.S. and China ties have decreased, while Russia and Europe have become more disconnected. Despite some shifts in trade during the Covid-19 pandemic and the Ukraine crisis, global trade has not split into rival geopolitical blocs. Globalization is still prevalent, with companies expanding internationally and global trade remaining a significant portion of the world GDP. However, the growth of information flows has slowed due to tensions between the U.S. and China. Despite these trends, international flows are still relatively limited compared to domestic flows, with global connectedness only at 25% on a scale from 0% to 100%. Trade growth is expected to accelerate in 2024, outpacing GDP growth.
